How to flock your own Christmas tree

Hi everyone! Decorating for Christmas over here. I’m kind of late in the game but I’m almost done πŸ™‚ This year we bought two real Christmas trees. Last year was our first time with a real tree and we enjoyed it so we decided to do it again πŸ™‚ I really love the look of a flocked Christmas tree but the price not so much. I mean, even a regular faux Christmas tree can be very expensive… and I’m cheap! So, after researching the internet and finding so many ways in achieving that fake snow, I came up with a simple formula. It’s so easy to make and a quick trick to make your Christmas tree stand out! All you need is water and these two.. dsc01501

Ingredients:

3 bars if Ivory soap

2 cups of cold water

1 tablespoon of cornstarch

1/2 cup of hot water

That’s it!

Take out a mixing bowl, grater and your electric mixer and you’re ready πŸ™‚

Step 1 : Grate the bars of soap in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2 : Add the cold water and cornstarch.

Step 3 : Mix with an electric mixer and add hot water while mixing.

Step 4 : Mix for two minutes or until it starts to look like shaving cream. If it feels like shaving cream.. then it’s ready!

Step 5 : Immediately, start applying it to your tree.

Note : I used my bare hands to apply this. I simply rubbed it along the branches and in some areas I went thicker. You may want to protect your floor/carpet with newspaper because it can be a little messy. I didn’t do that, I was just left with some drops here and there but it was easy clean up πŸ˜‰

Step 6 : Let it dry for one day.

Step 7 : Decorate!

Here’s how mine turned out.. 1508 dsc01504 It’s still drying and I still need to hang my ornaments but I’m sure it will turn out great πŸ™‚

If you try this formula.. please share your tree with me! I would love to see how it came out πŸ™‚
